San Francisco - Day 6

Dereck got up early and went to the car hire office to see if he could get the car from today. He came back rather excited as he could and we got a Ford Escape V6 SUV 4x4.

Headed off over the Golden Gate Bridge to a little town called Sausalito. This is a yachties paradise. Beautiful calm waters and wonderful views looking back to San Francisco. Also very nice houses and some right on the promenade.

Then headed off to the Muir Woods National Park. This is the home of the giant Californian Redwoods. Some of them are at least 1000 years old but most of the mature trees are between 500 – 800 years old. The tallest is over 252 feet and the widest over 14 feet. This National Park celebrated its 100 years last year. We took a walk around which was 3.2 km. It was absolutely amazing to see such huge and tall trees. We hugged a few, so hopefully that will keep them happy for a while!!From there we headed into Mill Valley and found a Starbucks to try and update, but we lost signal too often, so we drove on to the Presidio. Drove back to park the car and walked up the road back to our hotel to recharge batteries and refresh before going out again this evening.

Beautiful trees and the photos the Golden Gate bridge are beautiful. Glad you got your own wheels at last because I was getting worried that you are becoming real cablies. Hugs from Desire
